I don’t mind any of these people, because most of these people are actually very friendly.

Only thing i can’t get my head around is why would you call yourself alternative when there’s plenty of others that copy the exactsame thing…. So basically they’re all alternative stereotypes… Ironic ain’t it?

Yeh a lot of those asians were big Dir En Grey fans, 8 and 18 are obviously blakc metal, not a stereotype, actually a sub-genre, a lot of punks were there too, especially 2. And emos are pretty much just gay depressed ripo-offs of punks, they are no where near like goths, I dont know where ppl get that impression……

I think… I’ve seen #10 IRL… I think she’s that shaved chick that works at Hot Topic in Plaza Las Americas!

Anyways… I have to admit Gothic is more refined, and punk does have a political purpose for its criticism. But emo, God. Emo subculture is about listening to Emo music (Which is noticeable for its distinct style of lyrics, that tend to be, obviously, emotional and almost confessional), and to be an emotional person, not to be depressed, cut yourself, write bad poetry on MySpace and look like an idiot.

Though some pictures here look like goth/punk/emo posers, and some are Black Metal. And I think 1 and 9 are Japanese cosplayers, since they remind me strongly of Dir en Grey.

I think that these pics are pretty well divided. The emo are definetly emo and punk are punk, and the other are goth, they just have some metal inspiration or wanna be norweigan or something. Punk kids are acceptable in my opinion, but the emos have to go…and the painted kiss look alikes need to realize that u can look intimidating and listen to any kind of metal without looking like , well…KISS. Hang it up and be yourself and stop trying to be something ur not.

#1,9 and 14 are Visual Kei, a japanese sub culture
#2 and 19 are real punks
#3 looks like a metalhead who tried to look goth
    #4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 17 and 20 are emos of different uglienest an dumbness degree
#7 and the left guy in #15 are cliche goths
#8 and 18 are black metalheads
#13 are japanese cosplayers who jsut dressed up as punks for whatever reason
the other two guys of #15 are just metalheads
and #16 is just an old metalhead who seems to feel old and thinks she has to act young again

funny to see what different things are mixed up in those stereotypical look of outsiders of those cultures and how in fact not one real goth is shown

What I can’t understand is why they’ve linked Black Metal players to emos goths and punkers, that’s not right in any way. Besides, emo is a musical genre, not a style. And no fucking way that a band like Dimmu Borgir are emo, goth or punk! They’re Black Metal!

Uhm, no offence, but you’d have to be the dumbest person out there to not be able to tell the differance between punk, goth, and emo!!!!!! Like honestly, no offence to the people who can’t tell the differance! But really… It’s pretty damn obviouse which of those are wanna-be’s, which ones are goth, which ones are punk, and which ones are actually emo! And for stereotypicle fuck heads, emo isn’t being depressed, being all hated, cutting your self, and just being plane old stupid, it’s being EMO-TIONALY HARDCORE, as in you take your emotions too far… Sorry if it sounds like I’m being bitchy here, but it’s true, emo used to be being depressed, but now it’s not, it’s something else, people changed what emo was. And for all the emo haters out there go to hell and burn!!!

Um actually emo is still being depressed and wearing all black and yadda yadda yadda… Emo has not changed… Most people who get called emo are scene, dress kind of emo only not so much black and they’re not depressed… There’s so many posers who the fuck cares anyways… People get caught up in the trends of bein scene or emo or punk and goth that most people you see are posers…

emotional hardcore? No, that’s the style of music, maybe. A whiny ripoff pretending at being as awesome as hatebreed. The people, however, are goth wannabes who can’t get attention.

I can’t *wait* until the emo kids hit like 30. You think the hippies felt stupid with the bell bottoms and afros? Imagine when the emo kids get older and are covered in cutting scars, stupid tattoos, and have lots of pictures of themselves wearing stupid makeup and hair that belongs in an 80s music video.

      hilarious.

Actually, to say Emo hasn’t changed is a fallacy. Weezer was originally considered an Emo band when they released ‘Pinkerton’, and the fashion for the original crop of Emo kids from that period of time consisted of sweater vests and black thick-framed glasses, this was retroactively lumped in with the definition of ‘Hipster’, although it was called Emo at the time.

YES I know the most important differences:

PUNK: this is the oldest one of the three styles, exists from the 70s. however, there are still lots of them and this style doesn’t seem to fade away. they listen to punk music. otherthings of being a punk are drinking low-quality alcohols, wearing colored steeltoes and being an anarchist. ther is a connection between them and anarchists, but not all of them are anarchist.

EMO: plot of the emo thing is a decadence (deathwish) and “world-pain” with no reasons (they are mostly teens who can afford anything to look like an idiot, and their lives aren’t really hard”)
they make thesethoughts more charming with using a lot of pink in their style- so lots of young girls join this fad. emo is running out of fashion nowadays.
they own a style “emo music” but they often listen to hardcore and pop-punk as well.

GOTH: they believe in a mystic world with creatures like vampires, and try to find connections between our world and the otherside by for example calling ghosts with candles etc. They listen to a particular music style, simpe goth, gothic rock and gothic metal.

update: not all of the pics you used showing ppl of these 3 styles, i’ve found some of black metallers in this collection, and that is a particular style.
so i think i told you sg new as well by reflecting the differences. enjoy…

Not my cup of tea in some instances, but it’s so interesting to see someone elses view of beauty.

Also, it’s nice to see people trying to be themselves. Live and let live, it’s the best way to go.

I also really like the guy in the second picture leaning down to show the kid his jacket. Such a nice smile on him. ^^
